Preserving riverfront parks

Creekside successfully petitioned Detroit City Council to change the zoning of all four of our neighbohood's riverfront parts from Residential classifications to Parks & Recreation, saving these parks for public use rather than for private development (1998).

Supporting Maheras-Gentry Park youth recreation

Creekside spearheaded efforts to gain historic designation for Peter Maheras-Bronson Gentry Park on the Detroit River, which helped to end speculation about converting the park to a housing development. These and other efforts helped encourage the Think Detroit organization to build state-of-the-art facilities for youth baseball and soccer at the park, a $1.2 million investment (1998–2002).
