Alfred Brush-Ford Park

Alfred Brush Ford Park sits on about 34 acres of land, located on the south end of Lenox Street. This park offers a quiet atmosphere with scenic views of the river and Belle Isle, along with fishing. Alfred Brush Ford Park was acquired by the city in 1948 – it was originally known as Piper Park. The park is named after Alfred Brush Ford, a World War II veteran who was killed in 1945. Up to the early 1960’s, the park was used as a radar site for NIKE missiles. After the lease ran out on the radar site, a recreational center was built for the handicapped that is still operational.
